NORTH CONSOLIDATED FORENSIC CRIME LABORATORY

Washington State Patrol |  Everett, Washington
Completed:  2023

Current forensic services in the western part of Washington State are fragmented across multiple labs. Due to their size, condition, staff numbers, and location, these labs can't provide fully consolidated forensic services in one convenient location. In 2020, the FLSB completed a Facilities Master Plan, which suggested that instead of maintaining the current distributed services model, the State of Washington would be better served by replacing the outdated labs in Marysville, Seattle, Tacoma, and Olympia with two new, full-service labs. One would be located in the North Sound (near the intersection of Interstate 5 and 405 in the Lynnwood/Everett area) and one in the South Sound (near the intersection of Interstate 5 and 405 in the Renton area).

SWL was hired to assist Washington State Patrol in compiling a predesign document identifying the spatial requirements and funds needed to develop and construct the North Consolidated Forensics Lab. The proposed North Consolidated Forensics Lab (NCFL) will replace existing labs in Marysville and Seattle. This new lab aims to address the growing demand for forensic services in the northwestern region of the state.
