HEALTH SCIENCES CENTER
Renton Technical College | Renton, Washington
Estimated Completion: Fall 2031 | Construction Cost: $39 million
The Renton Technical College’s health sciences programs are currently scattered across multiple buildings on campus in outdated lab spaces. The college’s existing Building H sits underutilized in the heart of campus and is in need of renovations to bring it up to today’s higher education teaching standards. The new Health Sciences Center project will renovate Building H into a 70,000 GSF modern health sciences facility, consolidating all health sciences programs into one building to promote inter-program collaboration and deliver instruction in an environment that reflects real-world healthcare workplaces.
Planned improvements include a fully upgraded envelope and lighting, occupancy and daylighting controls, high-efficiency HVAC, retention of the existing metal roof with improved insulation, and added bicycle storage and showers to support alternative transportation and LEED goals. This project directly expands educational opportunity for in-demand health sciences careers for a diverse student body by replacing outdated, undersized labs with modern, accessible facilities.
